The Universal Union

The Universal Union is a massive multidimensional collection of alien races and mecha of extremely advanced scientific achievement. Utilizing interdimensional portals and dark energy reactors, they can move their armies across countless worlds, ravaging them for whatever resources they find useful.

All that is known about them comes from their invasion of Earth, nearly twenty years ago, when they conquered the planet in the Seven Hour war. They have nearly drained the oceans, and started strip mining continents in a systematic fashion. It is unknown what species makes up the ruling 'master race' - but several other enslaved species have been seen and documented being used as workers or ground troops. (See: Creatures and Species)

The Union has killed the majority of the global population, and set up a 'Suppression Field' that destroys the protein chains necessary for embryonic development. The current generation of humans could be the last. They are evaluating how best to use humans to their ends - if we prove useless or troublesome, they can enact our extinction.

The Universal Union is extremely resourceful - they have taken advantage of existing human designs and inventions to better tailor an occupation force on Earth. Old rail lines are commonly used by Union built trains, and much of the metrocop's arsenal are reproductions of old human weaponry. Union Synths - genetically engineer fighting machines - are assembled locally on Earth and have adapted to our fight efficiently on our planet.

The Union has set up a human-run system on Earth called Overwatch. Overwatch soldiers trade whatever freedoms they have left to live a 'better' life - one where they have the power to beat and kill other humans. However, unknown to most volunteers, Overwatch soldiers undergo extensive brainwashing, or 'memory replacement, as part of the training process. Another Union organization, Civil Protection, polices the populist with an iron fist. Overwatch itself is controlled by Administrator Wallace Breen, ambassador to the Universal Union. How much power Breen actually holds, however, is unknown.
